Dirty Jobs: Brown Before Green

Mike Rowe
Well, this week Dirty Jobs is showing a Brown Before Green special (their 2nd) which highlights some of the dirty jobs that Rowe & Co. have visited that serve to help the environment. You get to see people make organic shampoo, recycle a barge, and turn roadkill into compost. But the best part of the show is Rowe’s skewering of mainstream celebrity environmentalism, which puts all things green and beautiful before the hard work, dirt, grime, and entrepreneurial motivation that will require us to get sustainable businesses and sustainable products out there. He focuses on the people who do the hard and dirty work, the farthest thing from fads or trends, and places them in the limelight.
