Colman Vonkeviczky Sounds Call For Security Against Space War
Ever since June 30th, 1965, UN Secretary-General U Thant has been in possession of a grave warning concerning the potential threat posed by the phenomena of Unidentified Flying Objects. "Powers of a superhuman civilization," the warning reads, "living on celestial bodies, are conducting organized reconnaissance operations on and around our planet. At present time, the analyzed behavior of the alien space vehicles seems to be neutral, but their unknown assignment and task warns humanity and world outer space exploration teams to look to their security; and take immediate precautionary measures before launching any long lasting scientific study of the phenomena. The UFO problem hangs more dangerously above the great powers of the world than even the spectre of a third world war."

Donald A. Johnson, Ph.D.
The Knowles family CE-II encounter with an ovoid-shaped UFO on the Nullarbor Plateau in Western Australia January 20th was right on target in terms of time and place, according to the 61-month wave cycle first proposed by Dr. David Saunders back in 1971. At least two other UFO encounters of major importance occurred that same night in Australia and Tasmania.

Joseph W. Ritrovato - MUFON UFO Journal
In his book UFOs and Outer Space Mysteries, UFO skeptic James E. Oberg proposes a hypothetical test case to demonstrate that there is probably nothing of significance to the UFO phenomena. His idea is based on the possibility that if among the total number of UFO reports there were a real core of “truly extraordinary stimuli” and you could somehow have one year where these genuine anomalies were to disappear from the scene, something very interesting would happen. In his estimation the number of supposedly “true UFOs” would remain at virtually the same level as they would in a typical year when the genuine article (suggesting there is no such thing) is not excluded. Predictably, his reasoning advocates that these “Unknowns” are nothing more than misidentifications of “perfectly mundane” events. It is his belief that there will always be a residue of reports that can not be explained after the fact due to unreliability of witnesses. He also implies that only a lack of complete information stands in the way of identifying the experience as something not out of the ordinary.

Bill Chalker
One of the more frustrating aspects of the UFO phenomenon is its unpredictability. One of the mainstays of the scientific method is the repeatable experiment. In the case of an unpredictable and elusive phenomenon this is rather hard to organize. Occasionally UFO phenomena occurs in specific localities for an extended period. These are referred to as localized "flaps".

Researchers have tried to establish one aspect of the UFO phenomenon; not at the locations where sightings have taken place, but as regards the time of the periodicity of UFOs. The reports of sightings are based on the time factor with possible correlation of their periodicity, to type of physical interpretation that shows a similar periodicity.
