Sometimes when I look back over my early life, I wonder how I missed them:gaps of time as long as nine hours, bumps and bruises, odd dreams and ideas. All of them idly wondered about, but never considered for any length of time. They never struck me as abnormal, since they had been going on from my earliest memories. This was simply just how life was and I learned to adapt to it.
From my earliest memory I knew beyond a doubt that my life was different than other children’s lives. I feared the visitors that would come to my bedroom unseen by my parents in the night. At the time that I was a child in the late 1940s there were no movies about ET, Close Encounters, or Independence Day. I knew, however, that I was fearful of "space aliens" who came to visit when I was alone and defenseless.
The conference held on 23, 24 and 25 June 2000 in Istanbul was among the most interesting that I have ever attended, and the aim of this article is to give readers an overview of the event, cross referencing with other sources of information.
On 6 May 2000 I took part in the Intruders Foundation UFO Abduction Conference in New York. In terms of the data put forward and the quality of the presentations I believe it was the best such event that I’ve ever attended. I was pleased to have been invited to speak, not least because I’d planned to go to Intruders Foundation’s first such one-day conference last year, as a spectator, but had been unable to attend. Quite apart from my desire to go to what promised to be a fascinating conference, the trip presented an opportunity to catch up with friends such as Peter Robbins and Linda Cortile.
