What Are the Flying Triangles?

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

James Oberg

The December 1999 issue of Spaceflight magazine carried two letters from writers looking for explanations of a curious celestial phenomenon: a triangle of lights crossing the night sky.

The Amazing Flying Triangle Ships: How they do it

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Harv Howard

As the reader, you have the privilege of accepting, rejecting or ignoring all or any part of the following article. Is it sheer speculation, pure poppycock, or something insightful? Even the author cannot truthfully say. What the author does believe in, however, is a natural process labeled Spontaneous, Non-Directed Information Acquisition (SNDIA). It can be best described succinctly as a type of free-form Remote Viewing which allows the gathering of information about a subject without a directed approach. And a word of caution–which does not make necessarily the following information any more credible–if you dismiss Remote Viewing as being without value, then you have accepted the “official” view without bothering to check the many years of work done in the field starting with the CIA-sponsored work at the Stanford Research Institute International (closely associated with Caltech at that time) in California starting in 1972.

Investigation Casts Light on the Mysterious Flying Black Triangle

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

They are big, black, and triangular. In UFO folklore they are proof-positive that planet Earth is a rest stop for joyriding, but road-weary, extraterrestrials.

A just released study by the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS), based in Las Vegas, Nevada, sheds new light on the dark and mysterious craft. They offer a more down-to-earth hypothesis.

Flying Triangles – Why indeed they may be subject to a ‘D’ Notice (UK)

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Omar Fowler

Foreword by Editor of FSR [Gordon Creighton]. [We heard talk last year and rumors that the British media, including the BBC, had received official instructions not to publish any reports about black triangular UFOs, and in due course I received from a long-established FSR reader, Larry Robson, of Stratford-upon- Avon, the following report. As it is useful background information, I am publishing the entire text of it as a prelude to what our Triangle expert Omar Fowler has to say about this matter!—

The Aurora: America’s Black Triangle UFO?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

UFO Magazine

An explanation for the UFO known as the “Black Triangle” may have been found. From 1982 to 1985 researchers from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and NASA revived the notion of the Trans-Atmospheric Vehicle (TAV). This project became known as Copper Canyon. The objective was to find a replacement for the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird which was retired from service in 1989. This was also around the time of the first “triangle” sightings.

From the numerous eye-witness reports of the triangle it became obvious that the vehicle is hypersonic rather than supersonic, as was the SR-71. The SR-71 was very capable of a Mach 3.5+ performance, and given the many advances in American military technology since the SR-71 was designed, it isn’t unreasonable to assume that an aircraft capable of a Mach 5+ performance has been developed. However, the SR-71 was returned to service in 1996. It’s replacement may have been the Advanced Stealth Technology Reconnaissance Aircraft (ASTRA), which has often been referred to, mistakenly, as Aurora.

Silent Running: ‘Black Triangle’ Sightings on the Rise

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Leonard David

They have become legendary in UFO circles. Huge, silent-running “Flying Triangles” have been seen by ground observers creeping through the sky low and slow near cities and quietly cruising over highways.

The National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS), has catalogued the Triangle sightings, sifting through and combining databases to take a hard look at the mystery craft. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, NIDS is a privately funded science institute with a strong research focusing on aerial phenomena. The results of their study have just been released and lead to some unnerving, still puzzling conclusions.
