Roswell - Project Mogul

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

As reported in the January-February 1995 Skeptical Inquirer, a September 1994 Air Force report strongly supported the theory that the “UFO” debris found by rancher Mac Brazel in 1947 northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, was in fact a remnant of a balloon flight launched as part of a top-secret program called Project Mogul. The possible connection between the Roswell Incident and Mogul was first realized by researcher Robert G. Todd, and independently by Karl T. Pflock.

Roswell - A Dummy Explanation

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Since our investigation of the Roswell incident appeared in the July issue Popular Mechanics, we’ve heard from several readers who claim to have seen an extraterrestrial (ET). Most say he is a short, green fellow who never meant anyone any harm. A few warned us he is really tall, gray and malevolent. Another reader suggested ET is a time traveler. The hands-down most original description, however, comes from Air Force Capt. James McAndrew. He insists ET’s most distinguishing characteristic is a heavy steel eyebolt protruding from his head.

Roswell - Military Post-Roswell Debunking Campaign

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

This highly significant photo below appeared July 11 in the Fort Worth Star- Telegram, the same newspaper which was responsible for most of the photos taken in Gen. Ramey’s office two days earlier. There were two more photos of this demonstration (below), all three photos now residing in the Special Collections Division of the University of Texas, Arlington, in the Star-Telegram “Roswell” photo collection. Pictured in the photos is a demonstration launch at the Fort Worth air base of a weather balloon radar target of the same variety sometimes used with the Mogul balloons (the contemporary USAF explanation for the Roswell crash). Also in the background is a large radar trailer used to track the balloon (compare to radar trailer pictured in Kansas City photo below). These photos almost certainly prove that these radar targets were readily available at the base. Obviously the radar target displayed in General Ramey’s office did not have to come from a Mogul balloon. The only other alternative is that the AAF went through quite a bit of effort to procure not only the balloon with radar target, but also the radar tracking trailer solely for this debunking demonstration. The caption of the picture in the Star-Telegram is an obvious effort to debunk the reported saucers and the Roswell event as being the result of radar targets.

Roswell - Interview with Mac Brazel

Interview with Mac Brazel

In 1947, Mac Brazel was a leaseholder of the J.B. Foster ranch, southeast of Corona, New Mexico, where he raised sheep and cattle. Brazel was among the first to discover debris from the alleged crash of an alien craft. Mac’s friend and neighbor, Will Proctor, accompanied Mac to check on the livestock when they discovered odd pieces of metal and debris scattered all over the Foster Ranch. They found strange pieces of foil that couldn’t be cut, burned, or wrinkled and thin “I”-beams with strange symbols on them. Most interesting about these was that.
